Construction of Working Women Hostel

The Federal Government has established the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) under the National Commission for Human Rights Act, 2012 (Act No.XVI of 2012). The Commission is mandated to work for promotion and protection of human rights with the powers to take suo- moto action on cases of human rights violation.

The Commission consists of nine Members including the chairman. Its composition is as under:
  • CDA allotted two plots in Sector G-6/2 (75’x70’=583.33 Sq. Yds.) and G-7/3(100’x100’=1111.11 Sq. Yds.) for construction of working women hostels in Islamabad to erstwhile Ministry of Women Development (MoWD). The MoWD paid Rs.7,624,980/- to CDA on 13th May, 2010 as cost of land through development budget. CDA had issued formal possession of both plots to the MoWD on 21st January, 2011.
  • After devolution of MoWD on 30th June, 2011, Planning and Development Division transferred the project to Ministry of Human Rights. The then Ministry prepared a PC-I for construction of hostels with the consultation of Pak-PWD and submitted to Physical Planning and Housing (PP&H) Section, Planning, Development and Reform Division on16th April, 2013 for vetting. The P&PH Section cleared the PC-I on 9th April, 2014 and requested to submit the PC-I for consideration and approval of CDWP. The CDWP in its meeting held on 19th November, 2014 considered the project and decided that in the first instance Sponsoring Agency as well as Executing Agency of the project may be decided.
  • After re-establishment of independent Ministry of Human Rights on 23rd November, 2015, the Pak-PWD being Executing Agency prepared a fresh PC-I at a cost of Rs.261.288 million and submitted to Planning Commission of Pakistan on 23rd August, 2016 for approval of CDWP.
