National Commission for Human Rights

The Federal Government has established the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) under the National Commission for Human Rights Act, 2012 (Act No.XVI of 2012). The Commission is mandated to work for promotion and protection of human rights with the powers to take suo- moto action on cases of human rights violation.

 The Commission consists of nine Members including the chairman. Its composition is as under:

Ms. Kishwar Shaheen Awan, Member, Punjab

 Ms. Anis Haroon, Member, Sindh

 Dr. Yahya Ahmed, Member, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

 Ms. Fazila Aliani, Member, Balochistan

 Ch. Muhammad Shafique, Member, ICT

 Dr. Begum Jan, Member, FATA

  Mr. Ishaq Masih Naz, Member, Minority

 Chairperson, NCSW, Ex-officio Member

 National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) has been established with a broad mandate and powers to take suo-moto actions on Human Rights violation cases. The Ministry of Human Rights has also notified the NCHR Complaint Rules, 2015 which comprehensively elaborate the procedure regarding evaluating and disposing of complaints of Human Rights Violations.
