Pakistan was represented at the United Nations Responsible Business and Human Rights Forum held in Bangkok, Thailand on 16–17 September 2025 by the Secretary, Ministry of Human Rights Mr. Abdul Khalique Shaikh. The forum brought together governments, academics, and civil society stakeholders from across Asia and the Pacific to advance the business and human rights agenda. Speaking as a panelist in two sessions, the Secretary highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to implementing the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights (2021–2026). He shared recent measures taken by the Government, including the ratification of the Protocol to ILO Convention of 2014 on Forced Labour, plans to further ratify ILO Conventions on Occupational Health and Safety, research on a mandatory Human Rights Due Diligence Law, and reforms by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan requiring listed companies to report on the Gender Pay Gap. He also underlined the importance of South–South collaboration to build regional synergies in policy-making and partnerships.
